Start Early
While this may sound like obvious advice when it comes to taxes starting early could make a major difference in how much money you have to pay or how much money you receive. Rushing and waiting until the last minute could also cause you to make an error which could be costly if later on down the road you are hit with fines for back-taxes!

Contribute to Retirement Accounts
Making payments to an IRA can be tax-deductible if you meet the income restrictions. Make sure to regularly contribute to your retirement accounts because with this deduction you will enjoy some truly free money!

Make Sure You Are Using The Right Forms
This is one of the biggest problems the IRS encounters – incorrect forms used or forms filled-out improperly. If you don’t know if you have the right form or not chances are you don’t! Take the time to ask your accountant or a tax professional before guessing your way through it.

Save Your Return Each Year
Do you have last year’s return? If so it will make this year much easier – if not there is a good chance your accountant has it on file. If you didn’t use an accountant and did your taxes yourself and didn’t save the forms don’t worry – just save them this year…you’ll need them every year!
